Around the world in 45 minutes. Beyond the horizons of school geography and history

The exhibition is inspired by the collections of our museum. During the preparation of the exhibition, we discovered to be able to travel all the continents with the help of school wall charts and textbooks.

Wide range and thematic diversity of the geography subject reflects both the relationship to home, to the place in which we live, but also a contemporary view of distant, previously little-explored countries, carrying a hint of unattainable exoticism and adventure, which we can hardly imagine today, when travel is a common part of our lives.

Old maps, textbooks and wall charts show a world that is dynamically changing. Not only places and landscapes are undergoing transformation, but also the visual identity of individual nations. Looking at school supplies, we realize how quickly our lived reality becomes history.

The number 45 minutes does not indicate the length of time you have to complete the tour, it is the duration of one school lesson.
